چکیده

Maxillofacial prostheses are among the modalities of prosthetic rehabilitation but disinfectant solutions for their cleaning have been barely explored. The purpose present study was to evaluate antibacterial effects a Brazilian green propolis glycolic (PGL) solution on removal biofilm from surface two maxillofacial elastomers (room temperature vulcanization [RTV] and high consistency silicone rubber [HCR]). A total 42 specimens (3×10 mm) were made with these Staphylococcus aureus allowed grow 24 hours biomaterials. Specimens (n=3) randomly allocated following treatment groups by immersion 15 minutes: 0.9% saline solution; 2% chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX); 11%, 16% 20% PGL; Daro Brand® antimicrobial liquid agent gel soap. Quantitative assessment performed counting number colony-forming units (CFU). Two-way ANOVA employed data analysis. both treated PGL at concentrations 20%, as well CHX, did not reveal CFU/mL S. strain, indicating broad spectrum antibiofilm action solutions. In addition, showed lower in compared soap solution. Therefore, disinfection is effective might be considered promising alternative eliminating minutes.

Laxative effects and mechanism of action of Brazilian green propolis

BACKGROUND Brazilian green propolis is reported to have wide range of biological properties including antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-influenza, and antioxidant activities. In the digestive system, a protective effect of propolis on gastric ulcer has been reported, but a laxative effect has not yet been reported. We investigated the effect and the mechanism of action of water and ethanol...

Effects of Brazilian propolis on Leishmania amazonensis.

Leishmaniasis, an endemic parasitosis that leads to chronic cutaneous, mucocutaneous or visceral lesions, is part of those diseases, which still requires improved control tools. Propolis has shown activities against different bacteria, fungi, and parasites. In this study we investigated the effect of four ethanolic extracts of typified propolis collected in different Brazilian states, on Leishm...

The Neuroprotective Effects of Brazilian Green Propolis on Neurodegenerative Damage in Human Neuronal SH-SY5Y Cells

Oxidative stress and synapse dysfunction are the major neurodegenerative damage correlated to cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease (AD). We have found that Brazilian green propolis (propolis) improves the cognitive functions of mild cognitive impairment patients living at high altitude; however, mechanism underlying the effects of propolis is unknown. In the present study, we investigate...

Brazilian Green Propolis: Effects In Vitro and In Vivo on Trypanosoma cruzi

The composition of a Brazilian green propolis ethanolic extract (Et-Bra) and its effect on Trypanosoma cruzi trypomastigotes and other pathogenic microorganisms have already been reported. Here, we further investigated Et-Bra targets in T. cruzi and its effect on experimental infection of mice. The IC(50)/4 days for inhibition of amastigote proliferation was 8.5 ± 1.8 μg mL(-1), with no damage ...

Elastomers for maxillofacial applications.

Systematic evaluations of the properties of prosthetic facial materials began to appear in 1969 with a report by Cantor et a/. ’ They reported that plasticized poly(methyl methacrylate) was the best material with respect to resistance to tearing and degree of elongation. A year later, Walter2 reported the specific gravity, water sorption, thermal conductivity, strain in compression, and permane...
